Today, the Nevada Legislature consists of the lower house, which holds forty-two members, and the upper house, which holds twenty-one members. These sixty-three total members gather together at the Nevada Legislature Building in Carson City to implement laws and increase the quality of life in Nevada. For instance, one of the most recent laws put into effect is called the homeowner's bill of rights.
In modern legislature, the start of normal work days for Senate members begins on the first Monday of February. Legislative meetings are biennial in Nevada, which means that the sessions are held every two years rather than annually.

In Matthew Callister's opinion, the Legislature has reduced in character over the past years. For example, most of the issues focused on in the Senate are low-level and frequently innocuous. He believes that the Legislature has permanenlty adopted the idea that they are constantly helping Nevada citizens when, in fact, they are accomplishing barely anything. In the end, whether or not the Nevada Senate is helping or hurting the community is up to personal opinion.
